Who's Behind Aquarian Metals

I'm David Black, the founder of Aquarian Metals. I built this platform because I spent years trying to understand money and was disgusted and then radicalized by what I found.

How I got here

I came from the film industry. I co-wrote a movie (Night of the Living Dead: Darkest Dawn, streaming on Amazon) and worked in VFX developing real-time augmented visual systems at an independent company. Eventually I made the jump to software development, and once I started earning a steady income, I did what most people do: I tried to invest.

I opened accounts on Robinhood, M1 Finance, eTrade, and more. Every one of them vacuumed up my personal information and had huge government disclaimers about what you could or couldn't do with your own money. I got into crypto around 2017 because I valued the privacy and sovereignty it offered but had no idea what I was doing. I'd actually heard about bitcoin years before that, unsuccessfully tried to mine it when it was under $100. My wife told me to buy at $1 but I couldn't figure out how to get my hands on it, so I let it go. That one still stings.

I knew I wanted to manage and build my own wealth but had no idea where to start. I spent tens of thousands of dollars on courses and books, watched countless hours of videos, and still didn't understand money. No one broke it down in a way that made sense and no one taught people how to think for themselves. Then I found Michael Maloney's Hidden Secrets of Money series, and everything changed. I realized the entire financial system is designed to keep people poor by controlling the narrative around money. The jargon, the complexity, the institutional gatekeeping, none of it is accidental. It exists to justify keeping their hands on your assets.

The more I learned about the true nature of money, and the true nature of the institutions, both governmental and corporate, that control it, the more disgusted I became. And the more I understood, the more I fell in love with precious metals and the cryptocurrencies that actually carry the properties of sound money. I closed my accounts on all those platforms and started building my own wealth on my own terms.

So I used my skills as a developer and built my own tools to track my holdings when every other app failed to meet my standards. I use them every day to manage my own stack. Those are the same tools I sell here today.

Why I built this

Understanding money was the key that unlocked everything for me. Once I had it, wealth-building stopped being confusing. It became obvious. And I needed to share that.

Aquarian Metals came about because I had a lot to say and needed an outlet. There's an overwhelming amount of disinformation in this space, and almost no one is saying the simple thing that needs to be said: money isn't difficult to understand. There are some basics you need to learn, but anyone can learn them. And once you do, you can build your own wealth free from the gatekeepers who harvest your data while confusing you long enough to take your money.

People still care what the government thinks when it says or does something about metals or decentralized finance, while completely missing the point that there's nothing any government can do to control it. That's the kind of financial unawareness I'm here to counter.

What I am

I'm a regular person who took the time to learn how money works. I'm a long-term thinker and a natural saver. I value liberty above almost everything else and fiercely question anyone or anything that claims to know better than I do about my own life. I believe people deserve to be empowered enough to say "I'll do it myself," and I believe that once they understand their true power, they can.

What I'm not

I'm not a financial advisor. I don't manage anyone's money. I don't tell people what to buy. I built Aquarian Metals to teach people how money works and to give them the tools to make their own decisions. What you do with that knowledge is yours.
